Veterans Day is Wednesday, November 11, 2026, and businesses across Texas are saying thank you with free meals, discounts, and free admission. Here's where to look and how to make the most of it.
Start with the VA's official list
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs publishes a yearly list of Veterans Day discounts, free meals, and offers for veterans, families, caregivers, and survivors. It's the best place to start: 2026 Veterans Day discounts, free meals and offers (VA News). The VA notes that offers vary by location, so verify with each business directly.
Dallas-Fort Worth offers reported so far
CultureMap Dallas published a local roundup on October 27. A few offers it listed for Nov. 11 (most require a valid military ID, and many are dine-in only):
- 151 Coffee: one free drink of any size
- Cotton Patch Cafe: free chicken fried steak or chicken fried chicken, dine-in only
- Cantina Laredo: complimentary entree, up to $30 (not at the airports)
- El Chico: complimentary entree, up to $25 at select locations
- Pilot: free sandwich plus a coffee or fountain drink, redeemed in the Pilot app
- Pinstack: free personal pizza at select Dallas-area locations
The full list is on CultureMap Dallas and is being updated. We're sharing this as a convenience. We have no affiliation with these businesses and can't confirm any offer.
Tips for using veteran offers
- Bring proof of service. A VA ID card, a Veteran ID card, a driver's license marked "Veteran," or a DD-214 are commonly accepted. Policies vary.
- Check the fine print. Many offers are dine-in only, limited to certain locations, or limited to certain menu items.
- Call ahead. Locations can differ from corporate announcements, and some offers run on a different day or a few days around Nov. 11.
- Expect a wait. Popular places get busy. Going a little early or late helps.
- Look for year-round discounts too. Some businesses offer military discounts every day, not just Veterans Day.
Beyond the free meal
A free lunch is nice. The benefits you've earned can be worth a lot more, from the VA home loan to Texas property tax exemptions for disabled veterans. We put the highlights in one place on our Veterans Day 2026 guide.
